Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

As the population ages, ever increasing numbers of people are interested in improving their appearance. We are all born with beautiful skin, unfortunately many of us ruin our skin with exposure to UV rays from the sun and other environmental toxins such as smoking, excessive alcohol and drugs.

IPL improves the appearance of photoaged skin, removes age spots (sun – induced freckles), most benign brown spots, redness caused by capillaries while stimulating collagen and elastin leaving the skin with a more even and youthful looking appearance. This treatment is ideal for those with a more active lifestyle as the procedure requires minimal downtime and has a low risk of side effects. 

IPL works by a broad spectrum light that penetrates the tissue and absorbed by either blood (vascular lesions/broken capillaries) or melanin (freckles) and damaging them. The body's natural processes then remove the injured tissue.

During treatment you may feel a slight sting similar to that of a small elastic band to the treated area.

Post treatment you may feel flushed and appear red, similar to that of an exercise workout. Brown ages spots (pigmentation) will darken, as will vascular lesions (capillaries). This will clear anywhere from 3 to 14 days leaving the skin more even, refined and glowing.
