Medical needling (ROLLCIT) involves rolling small micro – needles over the skin, creating thousands of miniature skin wounds resulting in the formation of Collagen 1.

The result is that skin becomes thicker, having a positive effect on scarring such as acne and stretch marks, as the new collagen ‘pushes’ the old scar tissue toward the upper skin layers.  The improved circulation plumps and hydrates the treated site.  Fine lines and wrinkles are softened, pigmentation (sun-induced freckles) reduced and pore size is minimised. 

Prior to treatment, skin is anaesthetised with a topical numbing cream.  Best results are achieved with 2 – 3 treatments at 6 – 8 week intervals, 3-5 treatments with scarring with an expected improvement of 80%.  Results will not be immediate, as new collagen is formed over a 90-day period, with results improving for another 12 months.

Needling is suitable for all skin types, even darker skin types as unlike IPL treatments, there is no thermal heat. Those with active skin conditions or auto-immune problems are not suitable for this treatment

With over 150,000 treatments performed worldwide, no negative effects have been reported.  This treatment is also suitable for darker skin types as there is no risk of hyperpigmentation.

Post treatment the skin may have a red, inflamed appearance with a similar sensation to sunburn for 24hours.  The skin may also feel tight and dry.  This will subside in a few days.

All needling treatments require a thorough consultation prior to treatment and appropriate home care. All treatments use the dermaroller, the only TGA roller available
